04.16.082008 MATCH PERFORMANCE - NUMBER OF IMGS MATCHING INCREASESThe ECFMG(r) Reporter An E-Newsletter for International Medical Graduates Pursuing Graduate Medical Education in the United States Issue 128 - March 24, 2008 For the sixth consecutive year, the number of first-year (PGY-1) residency positions offered through the Match increased. A total of 22,240 first-year positions were offered in the 2008 Match, held earlier this month. This represents an increase of 395 positions compared to last year and an increase of 1,638 positions since 2002. The number of IMGs who matched to first-year positions increased by 122 compared to 2007. Of the 10,304 IMGs who participated in the 2008 Match, 4,649* (45.1%) matched. 04.12.08HOW DO I REGISTER FOR THE NRMP MATCH?U.S. Seniors In the spring of your third year of medical school, you will receive a preprinted student agreement form to review and sign. Make sure that the name listed on the agreement matches the name you use on your residency applications. The current registration fee is $40, payable to the NRMP, and is nonrefundable. Upon registering, you will be assigned an NRMP Applicant Code that you will use to identify yourself on residency applications and correspondence.
